LAW440 - Global Business Law

A survey of the world's main legal systems and their application in contemporary global business.

Classes review the philosophy of law and structures of judicial systems; contracts, corporate law, intellectual property and cyberlaw, the structure of the U.S. government, labor law and workplace harassment, and criminal law and negligence in Common Law jurisdictions; Civil Law, Socialist Law, and Islamic Law; and private international law, international trade law, principles of taxation, immigration, and the World Trade Organization . Guest speakers, and field trips to lectures, exhibits and conferences at local law schools such as Harvard Law School, Boston University Law School, Boston College School of Law, Suffolk University Law School, and the Northeastern University School of Law, supplement lectures and discussions.
